Woman Accused Of Killing Her Three-Year-Old Daughter With Wooden Pin Abandons Bail Hearing
A Durban mother accused of murdering her toddler daughter has abandoned her bail application.
The 33-year-old woman appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

She is accused of assaulting her three-year-old daughter with a wooden rolling pin on the face and head. It is said that the alleged incident occurred in a Durban CBD apartment occurred on May 31, 2022.
When police arrived, they discovered the body of a three-year-old girl with strangulation marks.
The woman was arrested shortly after the alleged incident and has been detained since then. Natasha Kara, the NPA’s provincial spokesperson, confirmed on Wednesday that the accused had dropped her bail application.

“The State has secured a bed for the accused to undergo a psychological assessment at Fort Napier (Mental Institution).”
The case was postponed until September 14 for further investigation.
