Arthur Fraser Lays Charges Of R60m Theft, Kidnapping Against Cyril Ramaphosa

Cyril Ramaphosa

Arthur Fraser, former director-general of the State Security Agency, expressed hope that President Cyril Ramaphosa would confide in the nation about the allegations levelled against him.

Fraser on Wednesday laid a criminal complaint against Ramaphosa, accusing him of breaching the Prevention of Organised Crime Act by not reporting a robbery at his Limpopo farm in 2020.

He also accuses Ramaphosa of undermining the rule of law by kidnapping suspects and interrogating them on his property in Limpopo’s Waterberg district.

Police have confirmed that Fraser filed a criminal case against the president and that due process would be followed.

The Presidency has not yet commented. Fraser claims that in February 2020, criminals broke into Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.

He claims they were apprehended after stealing $4 million. Fraser claims that the suspects were then kidnapped, interrogated, and paid to remain silent.

He stated that supporting evidence, such as photographs, bank accounts, video footage, and names, had been submitted to the Rosebank Police Station. “Today I have taken the unprecedented step to lay charges against his excellency of the Republic of South Africa, Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa. The details of the charges and supporting evidence including photographs, bank accounts, video footage and names are contained in my statement filed at the Rosebank police station,” Fraser said in the statement.

“The charges emanate from the theft of millions of US dollars (in access of 4 million dollars) concealed within the premises of the president’s Phala farm in Waterberg, Limpopo, by criminals who were colluding with his domestic worker. They also include defeating the ends of justice, kidnapping of suspects, their interrogation on his property and bribery. The president concealed the crime from the SAPS and Sars and thereafter paid the culprits for their silence.”

“I trust that the police and the prosecuting authorities will investigate this matter without fear or favour. I also trust that the president will take the nation into his confidence and accept or deny that the events described in my affidavit occurred on his property.”
